Ted Ames
About

A steady hand on your side of the table.

I founded Frontman Law to bring big-firm and in-house transactional experience — built at firms like Latham & Watkins and Goodwin Procter and through senior in-house roles — to a leaner, more direct practice. Over more than 20 years, I’ve drafted, negotiated, and closed the contracts that run modern companies: master services, SaaS, licensing, development, data services, subscription, and consulting agreements, and data processing terms — plus other complex technology and commercial agreements.

I work as a thought partner from your first customer through your largest enterprise deal — an extension of your executive team, or outsourced general counsel.

The AI terms now landing in nearly every deal are new ground for almost everyone — who owns the inputs and outputs, what a model can train on, and who carries the risk when it gets something wrong. Those are ownership, data, and liability questions I’ve negotiated for two decades, and I’m comfortable bringing that footing to this new universe.

I’ve represented clients in transactions across the United States and in many international markets. I hold a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and a B.A. from Dartmouth College, and I’m admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and California.
